2.50pm UPDATE: Newcastle ace Sean Longstaff flattered by Man Utd interest
Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff insists while he is “massively flattered” to be linked with a move to Manchester United, he is solely focused on playing for his boyhood club who he says he has “dreamt” of playing for all his life.
He told NUFC TV: “It just shows how far I’ve come. If someone told us at the start of the season that by the end of it you’d be linked with these teams I’d have laughed at them but it’s nice, it’s flattering.
“I’m massively flattered to have my name even mentioned in those conversations but like I said, I’m 100 per-cent focused on Newcastle and trying to get fit and get back in the team here.
“For me it’s nice to be have said about you and be linked with top clubs but for me, this is what I’ve always wanted to do.
“I’ve always wanted to play for Newcastle and I’ve only had a little taste of that so for me, it’s about getting fit as soon as I can and getting back on the pitch for Newcastle and making more memories of the future.”

The Wales international has spent the last six years at the Bernabeu, helping the La Liga giants win four Champions League titles along the way.
But Bale endured a nightmare campaign for Real Madrid last season, failing to step up following Cristiano Ronaldo’s blockbuster move to Juventus.
And with Zinedine Zidane refusing to play the forward on a regular basis, a move away could take place.
Reports on Saturday morning have claimed that the Galactico could be offered to United as part of any potential Paul Pogba transfer.

2.10pm UPDATE: Samuel Umtiti makes Arsenal decision
Arsenal want to sign Barcelona star Samuel Umtiti. But reports claim the France international is unwilling to make the move this summer.
Arsenal have made Barcelona defender Umtiti their top transfer target for the summer window in the wake of their failure to qualify for the Champions League.
The Gunners finished fifth in the Premier League title race and also lost the Europa League final to Chelsea, going down 4-1 in Baku.
Arsenal boss Unai Emery is determined to sign a centre-back this summer with club captain Laurent Koscielny possibly leaving.
The Gunners may also cut Shkodran Mustafi loose, providing they can find a buyer for the Germany international.
Umtiti has found himself on Arsenal’s radar at a time where Barcelona are pushing hard to sign Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax.
De Ligt is a highly-rated prospect and is also interesting the likes of Manchester United, PSG and Liverpool.
But, regardless of whether or not the 19-year-old signs, Spanish newspaper AS say Umtiti is unwilling to leave.

Chelsea bosses should be looking to appoint Ajax boss Erik ten Hag once Maurizio Sarri leaves for Juventus.
That is according to European football expert Julien Laurens, who insists he has all the attributes needed to be a success at Chelsea.
“It’s a huge summer for Chelsea,” Laurens said on talkSPORT.
“It’s a key time to decide what direction they go in this summer and with who they go into that new direction with.
“I think Sarri will go to Juventus, so the new manager will be massive. They can’t get this one wrong.
“Either they bring through their young players or they hope for the best and the transfer ban gets frozen so they can a bit of money.
“They could try to go for Erik ten Hag at Ajax. His English is perfect and Chelsea have got this amazing academy, with players like Mason Mount and others.
“You can always convince someone to leave, wherever they are.”

Manchester United transfer target Daniel James will be a fantastic signing for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the fans, according to United legend Ryan Giggs.
“If it happens, United are getting an exciting player that I know that Man United fans will get behind and enjoy watching him,” said Giggs.
“It’s fantastic for everyone, for Dan, for Manchester United and a good deal for Swansea City as well.
“I would say enjoy it, it’s the biggest club in the world so enjoy the challenge.
“He’s potentially going there because of what he’s done over the last year or so, especially the last six months.
“Be yourself, don’t be anyone else, and you’ll be fine.”

He told Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo: “I sat down with him to talk about all his options, but the same as I did with Frenkie [De Jong], I told him that the decision belongs to him.
“Matthijs is a good boy and he knows what he has to do.
“I talked to him, but I told him that I could not make the decision for him, he knows what he has to do.
“I can only talk about good things about Barca because it’s a great club and I have a great feeling with Barca.

11.50am UPDATE: Joao Felix to Man Utd or Man City?
Joao Felix should join Manchester United ahead of Manchester City if he wants regular first-team football, claims former Tottenham striker Darren Bent.
“It depends on what he wants to do,” he continued.
“If he wants to go and play football sooner rather than later, go to Manchester United.
“If they’re going to start rebuilding, they just signed Dan James, if they go and sign Felix as well he’s going to play. They’re going to sign him to play.
“If you go to Manchester City now they’re pretty much set. All of their players are quite young as well.
“The only thing you might think is if Sane goes to Bayern Munich, that frees up a little slot there and maybe he can slot in there.
“But for me right now it’s where he sees himself. If he wants to hit the ground running right now in this kind of development stage, maybe Manchester United might suit him as we stand right now.”

11.30am UPDATE: Man Utd, Chelsea and PSG in Philippe Coutinho battle
Manchester United will be encouraged as Philippe Coutinho has demanded he leave Barcelona, according to reports.

The report claims Coutinho’s agent has told the club he expects to leave this summer.
Barcelona have realised they will not be able to get rid of the midfielder easily and have set an £80million asking price as a result.

11.10am UPDATE: Man Utd to make statement with Gareth Bale signing?
Real Madrid star Gareth Bale is the only player Manchester United can buy this summer who would be a “statement signing”, says Shaka Hislop.
“I think there’s any number of Premier League clubs who would take a chance on Gareth Bale at the right price,” Hislop said.
“I understand the concern [over his fitness]. But for instance, talking about the Premier League, Manchester United could do with a signing like Gareth Bale.
“Whether Gareth Bale would go there without Champions League football is another discussion.
“Right now we’re talking about where he can fit and what club would be willing to take a chance on a player like Gareth Bale, even at the money that he would come at.
“If you spread his salary out over five years you’re talking somewhere around £200,000-250,000-a-week which is about where they’re paying their top players.
“I know Alexis Sanchez is a little bit of an exception but we’ll try to disregard that. I think United take a chance.
“I think United need a statement signing and there is no other player who will qualify as a statement signing that will go to Manchester United right now.”
Transfer news LIVE: Gareth Bale continues to be linked with Manchester United
10.50am UPDATE: Eden Hazard backed to be a success at Real Madrid
Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon believes Eden Hazard can make a real difference for his new side.
“I think it is fantastic news for Real Madrid,” he said. “The player is one of those that anyone would like to have on their team – good dribbling, excellent passing and he can play both flanks because he uses the two feet.
“He can play as a winger, attacking midfielder and also a false nine so it’s perfect. I think it has been a good opportunity to take advantage of the decision of the player to leave Chelsea.
“This is the real one, the other three [signings] I’m not quite sure but Eden Hazard is really that player that can make the difference in a team and I hope he would be able to play at the same level he has been in the Premier [League].”

Nicolas Pepe has made a definitive decision on his future and will snub both Manchester United and Liverpool in favour of a move to Germany.
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate to add attacking talent to his squad after missing out on Champions League qualification.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had also considered putting a bid in for Lille winger Pepe, 24, but the player is not keen on a move to England.
According to the Sun, the £70million rated Ivory Coast international is likely to join Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich as a replacement for the outgoing Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben.
Pepe scored 22 league goals this season as he fired Lille back into the Champions League, but he is highly unlikely to play for them in the competition next season with European giants circling.

10.10am UPDATE: James Rodriguez to Man Utd?
Manchester United are set to receive an offer from Real Madrid detailing a possible deal to sign Colombia international James Rodriguez.
Manchester United could become the unlikely beneficiary from Eden Hazard’s move from Chelsea to the Spanish capital as Real Madrid attempt to offload their unwanted star.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and United are set to take full advantage of the 27-year-old’s contract confusion by sealing a cut-price deal for the playmaker this summer.
However, Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is still keen on adding Paul Pogba to his playing squad before the end of the summer window, and could use United’s interest in Rodriguez as part of the deal.
Spanish football journalist Eduardo Inda has given his take on Pogba’s transfer stalemate, and outlined why the clubs are struggling to reach an agreement.
“Pogba is very complicated at this moment,” Inda said on Spanish television programme El Chiringuito de Jugones.
“It is the great star of Manchester, Madrid offers 120 [£111m] more incentives, which could reach 150. Manchester asks for 180 [£160m].”

Tottenham transfer target Bruno Fernandes is ‘very close’ to signing for Spurs, and is set to reject a summer move to Manchester United or Liverpool, it’s been claimed.
Tottenham are reportedly “very close” to confirming the signing of Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes.
He’s set to snub the opportunity to play for Manchester United, Liverpool or Manchester City to play for Mauricio Pochettino, according to Portuguese newspaper Record.
Spurs and United are the only two teams with meaningful bids at the moment.
But, Tottenham were always more likely to sign Bruno Fernandes, as they could offer the prestige of Champions League football next season.

9.30am: Celtic have bid turned down
Celtic boss Neil Lennon has seen his initial bid for Motherwell midfielder David Turnbull rejected as he looks to kick off his summer spending spree.
Celtic are aiming to win a ninth consecutive domestic title next season but will face a stern challenge from Steven Gerrard’s Rangers.
Lennon is desperate to strengthen his squad this summer in order to retain their dominance in Scotland, but the Northern Irishman has seen his first bid rejected.
According to the Daily Record, Scotland Under-21 international Turnbull was the subject of a £2million offer from the Premiership champions, and although that is lower than Motherwell’s valuation – the player will leave if their target is met.
A source said: “Motherwell have a value in mind and if nobody meets it then David will stay.
“He’s still got two years left on his contract and if it means Motherwell selling him for less money in 12 months but he has another season in the first team, then that’s fine.”

9am UPDATE: Paul Pogba for Gareth Bale swap deal
Manchester United could face a fight to keep Paul Pogba at Old Trafford this summer with Real Madrid ready to offer Gareth Bale in a swap deal.
Los Blancos have been busy already confirming the signing of Eden Hazard for £89million yesterday.
And it now appears they have set their sights on Manchester United midfielder Pogba.
The Mirror claim Real are ready to use Bale in a swap deal to sweeten any agreement.
It is understood United would want £130m for Pogba if they were to let him leave Old Trafford this summer.
And Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could find a swap offer including Bale attractive, it has been claimed.
However, any negotiations would probably surround the fact the Wales international has three years remaining on a mega deal at the Bernabeu worth £600,000-a-week.

8.20am UPDATE: Daniel James transfer verdict
Daniel James is not the type of transfer that is going to take Manchester United back to where they want to be, according to Steve Nicol.
“This is your guy for the future,” Nicol said.
“This is who your guy is.
“But guess what, Manchester United don’t need guys for the future right now.
“They need people who can come in and step on the field and make a difference.
“And unfortunately, as good a prospect as Daniel James is, he’s not doing that.”
